Current Situation Of Building Energy Consumption and Development of Green Building

The use of fossil fuels has increased almost 30-fold over the past century. Currently, the world emits about 21 billion tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere each year.

The huge carbon emissions have made it more and more difficult for human destiny to "breathe".

And the large amount of energy consumption that our current social activities and economic development require is undoubtedly aggravating the expansion of this number.

As we all know, the three main energy consumptions today are building energy consumption, transportation energy consumption and industrial energy consumption.

Building is the product of human development. With the increasing tolerance and inner capacity of modern buildings, people's dependence on and desire for building are also increasing. However, the emergence of buildings will inevitably produce a large amount of energy consumption.

According to the research data of the World Council for Sustainable Development, the energy consumption of buildings accounts for 40% of the total energy consumption of society.

As the new energy era has not yet arrived, China, as the world's largest developing country and the most populous country, faces a serious energy situation. With the continuous expansion of cities, the urgent need to carry out renovations of old houses, and the emergence of new buildings, building energy consumption will also continue to increase. Therefore, reducing building energy consumption and implementing building energy saving are essential for promoting energy consumption reduction, rational use of energy, and economic and social development. Under the circumstance of ensuring reasonable comfort, it has become a national policy to reduce building energy consumption as much as possible.

In the two sessions in 2020, the construction of a green and healthy China is still the main tone. The state supports the building to develop in the direction of high-quality, humane, environmental protection and green, and return to the nature of living.

China's construction industry has always been accompanied by the process of urbanization. According to relevant statistics, as of 2018, China's new construction area is about 1.97 billion square meters, accounting for about 50% of the new construction in the world, and the accumulated construction area is about 18.85 billion square meters. With such a large base quantity, it is a challenge to China's building energy conservation industry, but also an opportunity.

On September 22, 2020, at the general debate of the 75th Session of the UN General Assembly, President Xi Announced that China would increase its nationally determined contributions, take stronger measures to peak its carbon dioxide emissions by 2030, and strive to achieve carbon neutrality by 2060.

Since the 1910s, the output value of China's building energy saving industry has increased rapidly. By 2018, the scale of industry output value has reached RMB167.5 billion. Based on this growth curve, it is estimated that the output value may exceed RMB200 billion in this year, and the renovation area of energy-saving building completed was 150 million square meters as of 2018. From the above data, we can see that the future development of buildings will present a green development direction. According to the requirements of the "13th Five-Year Plan" for building energy saving and green building development, the development of green buildings in China will enter an acceleration period of incremental and quality improvement. Under the macro-economic regulation, the new buildings have been transformed and upgraded from extensive development to high quality and high grade.

With the increasing sense of crisis and the expansion of cognition, people have begun to regain their reverence for nature, and their awareness of environmental protection, energy saving and consumption reduction has been continuously improved.
