French homes will be without power for two hours a day. What should we do?

Recently, the hashtag # French households will be cut off for 2 hours a day has been trending. It is reported that the French power grid operator has started to draw up specific plans for power outages, which will be distributed in all parts of France. Every household will be cut off for up to 2 hours a day, and only once a day. Hospitals and defense facilities will not lose power.

The policy is no doubt a move to reduce energy consumption. As we all know, since 2020, when China put forward the goal of "carbon peak and carbon neutrality", the word "energy saving and carbon reduction" has become a hot topic again, and various low-carbon related technologies, standards and projects have emerged in an endless stream.

However, from the perspective of people's livelihood and social and economic development, electricity rationing or time-saving may not be a foolproof solution. In fact, many more effective energy-saving and carbon reducing measures are being actively implemented all over our country, including attaching particular importance to promoting the large-scale development of energy-saving green buildings.

With the rapid development of society, our country every year has 16 billion square meters of new housing area as energy utilization only 33% of high energy consuming buildings, the total building energy consumption is accounted for one third of the total energy consumption of the country. It can be seen that the development of green energy-saving buildings is the general trend, but also urgent. Here are two examples of green buildings:

Located in Banbidian Village, Weishanzhuang Town, Daxing District, Beijing, Zero House is just such a green and energy-saving building. With the help of energy-saving building technologies, it can meet all the electrical energy used in the room. "The 400-square-meter house is warm in winter and cool in summer," said a staff member.

Compared with the current national energy conservation design standards, the Sino-German Ecological Park built in Qingdao has a building energy saving rate of more than 90%, a primary energy consumption saving of nearly 1.69 million kWh/ year, a saving of operating costs of about 500,000 yuan/year, and a reduction of carbon emissions of 664 tons per year.

Obviously, when we think about energy-saving and carbon reduction measures from a more comprehensive perspective, it is more effective to reduce energy consumption in the form of green energy-saving buildings than to cut electricity or save electricity.

"Building towards" more comfortable, more energy efficient, higher quality, better environment "is the general trend." Xu Wei, chief editor of Standard and president of the Institute of Building Environment and Energy Conservation at the China Academy of Building Science, said, "Building energy efficiency has slowed down the trend of China's building energy consumption increasing rapidly along with the development of urban construction, and improved the quality of people's living, working and living environment."

In addition to energy saving advantages, health and comfort are also one of the important advantages of energy saving buildings. This is why energy-saving buildings can be quickly recognized by the market, and can continue to develop and grow. For this reason, vigorously promoting the development of energy-saving buildings will become a fast and effective project ahead of the "double carbon" target.

According to the "14th Five-Year Plan for Building Energy Conservation and Green Building Development" published on the official website of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development in March 2022: By 2025, over 350 million square meters of existing buildings will be renovated to conserve energy, and over 50 million square meters of buildings with ultra-low or near-zero energy consumption will be built. The renewable energy replacement rate for urban buildings will reach 8 percent, and electricity consumption in building energy consumption will exceed 55 percent.

It is not difficult to see that the development of green buildings in our country is a good and future trend. So for the moment, saving electricity to reduce carbon most likely will not appear in our side, because we have a more efficient and comfortable way, namely -- green energy-saving buildings.
