On April 28th, the first local standard for the construction of zero carbon industrial parks in China, the "Construction Specification for Zero Carbon Industrial Parks in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region", was officially implemented.

Since April 2022, the world's first zero carbon industrial park was built and put into operation in Ordos, Inner Mongolia, concepts such as zero carbon parks and near zero carbon industrial parks have received much attention.

In order to solidly promote the implementation of zero carbon industrial parks and establish standards that can be executed, referenced, and replicated, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region has released the local standard "Zero Carbon Industrial Park Construction Specification" on March 8 of this year, following the release of the local standard "Green Power Application Evaluation Method" at the end of last year. In addition, the local standards of the "Zero Carbon Industrial Park Measurement and Evaluation Specification" are also about to be released, which will form a complete local standard system for zero carbon industrial parks.

Local standards for forming a zero carbon industrial park system

The "Norms for the Construction of Zero Carbon Industrial Parks" provide overall directional guidance for the construction of zero carbon industrial parks and serve as the supporting foundation for the standard system of zero carbon industrial parks. This standard provides the construction principles, main system composition, key tasks during construction, and operation and maintenance management of industrial parks with zero carbon as the ultimate goal. For example, for low-carbon/zero carbon energy systems, the "Regulations" require zero carbon industrial parks to prioritize the use of renewable energy while ensuring safety and quality, and the proportion of renewable energy use in zero carbon parks should not be less than 80%.

"

Qiang Hua, deputy director of the Economic Operation Bureau of the Department of Industry and Information Technology of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, said: "The Code for the Construction of Zero Carbon Industrial Parks encourages power users to directly use renewable energy. On this basis, it also supports enterprises to conduct green power trading through the power trading market to promote the local consumption of renewable energy, which will be an important measure to promote green and low-carbon development of the industry."
