Recently, the Provincial Housing and Urban Rural Development Department issued the "Implementation Plan for Carbon Peak in the Urban and Rural Construction Field of Shanxi Province", and formulated the implementation path of carbon peak in the housing and construction field.

The implementation plan clearly states that the density, intensity, and height of county town construction should be controlled in an orderly manner according to local conditions. The population density of the built-up areas located in ecological functional areas and agricultural product production areas should be controlled between 6000 to 10000 people per square kilometer. By 2025, the pilot counties will have basically established an ecological civilization system and completed a number of construction projects such as municipal infrastructure, public service system, and green and low-carbon transportation system. We will explore and promote modern rural housing construction methods such as prefabricated building and passive sunlight houses according to local conditions, apply new green energy-saving technologies, new products and new processes, and focus on the integrated design of green energy-saving technical facilities and rural housing, so as to complete a batch of green rural housing by 2030.

Accelerate the construction of domestic sewage treatment facilities in designated towns. By 2025, all designated towns with a permanent population of over 2000 in the township will have domestic sewage treatment capacity. Actively promote the "four part method" for rural household waste, and by 2025, the proportion of natural villages covered by the rural household waste collection, transportation and disposal system in the province will reach 98%.

Continuously carry out the work of "coal to gas" and "coal to electricity" in rural areas, and continue to expand the coverage of clean heating in rural areas. Promote the application of solar energy, geothermal energy, air thermal energy, biomass energy and other renewable energy in rural areas, vigorously promote the installation of solar photovoltaic systems on the roofs of rural houses, empty yards, and agricultural facilities, make full use of solar photothermal systems to provide domestic hot water, and encourage the use of solar stoves and other equipment.
