For a long time, the city has actively promoted new building energy conservation, green buildings, prefabricated building, ultra-low energy consumption buildings, etc. According to the statistics of the Municipal Development and Reform Commission, as of the end of 2020, the city has built a total of 760 million square meters of energy-saving urban civil buildings, accounting for 79.6% of the total number of existing civil buildings and ranking first in the country; Accumulated construction of 125 million square meters of green buildings; New prefabricated building account for 40% of new buildings; A total of 47.41 million square meters of solar hot water system building applications have been built, with a photovoltaic building application capacity of 610000 kilowatts.

According to the plan, new buildings in Beijing will follow the green building one star or above standard, new government investment and large public buildings will follow the green building two star or above standard, new public buildings in the urban sub center will follow the green building three star standard, and new buildings in the core area will follow the green building three star standard. At the same time, this city also encourages the construction of green ecological demonstration zones and high star green building projects in key areas such as the "three cities and one district", the national comprehensive demonstration zone for expanding the opening of the service industry, and the China (Beijing) Pilot Free Trade Zone, Pingyuan New City, and Daxing International Airport Airport Airport Economic Zone. By 2025, new residential buildings will fully comply with the 2-star or above green building standards, and new public buildings will strive to fully comply with the 2-star or above green building standards.
