Green construction leads the trend of construction, and Shenzhen's key projects create an "ecological wind"

The concept of green development is gradually integrating into the entire elements and process of engineering construction. In this regard, Shenzhen's key construction projects are exploring the path of high-quality development of green buildings and helping Shenzhen build a green and low-carbon city.

Rainwater recycling "recyclable"

Enter the Sun Yat-sen University Shenzhen construction project located in Guangming District, where the construction site is clean and orderly, and the construction personnel are busy working. At present, the public teaching group, medical group, science group, engineering group and other buildings in the western area of the project have been delivered in two batches, and the construction of other projects such as libraries and sports venues has entered the final stage.

"According to the green construction planning, the project has formulated environmental protection indicators for Construction waste, noise control, Wastewater treatment, dust suppression measures, light source control, toxic and hazardous waste, and implemented management in strict accordance with the standards," said the project leader.

At the construction site, drainage ditches have been set up on roads and material storage areas, from which construction wastewater can flow into the tertiary sedimentation tank for wastewater. After regular testing and meeting the standards, the wastewater can be discharged into the municipal sewage pipeline network. At the same time, a protective shed for rainwater collection, treatment, and reuse system has been set up on the construction site. After the rainwater is collected and subjected to a series of treatments, it can be used for spraying irrigation and construction water on the construction site.

How to reduce the impact of construction noise on the lives of surrounding residents? It is understood that in addition to using advanced machinery and low noise equipment for construction, the mechanical equipment that generates high noise should also be arranged as far away from the office area, living area, and surrounding residential areas of the construction site as possible. Sound absorption and noise reduction sheds have also been set up for equipment places with high noise such as concrete delivery pumps and electric saw rooms, greatly reducing work noise.

Dustproof canopy "delivers coolness"

In response to the call for green construction and low-carbon development, the new Huanggang Port Joint Inspection Building project located in Futian District also played a "combined fist" of dust prevention and noise reduction. One is to arrange fog guns reasonably within the site, and set up sand screening machines, cake pressing machine systems, and circulating water storage systems in multiple locations to reduce construction wastewater and dust issues; The second is to make full use of low noise equipment, set up noise barriers such as fences and soundproof walls, and use sound absorbing materials to fully reduce noise pollution and impact.

It is worth mentioning that some areas of the foundation pit of the project are also equipped with dustproof curtains, which are pulled by steel wire ropes to cover the building above, preventing the spread of sand and dust generated during construction to the outside world. The dust prevention rate is effectively controlled at over 95%. This type of dustproof canopy also has an 80% shading efficiency. In Shenzhen, where there is plenty of sunshine in the long summer and short winter, hardworking construction workers can enjoy a touch of coolness while busy with construction.

The Shenzhen Xinhua Hospital project, located in Longhua District, is the largest single building hospital under construction in China. The project is constructed according to the green two star standard, and through the design of three-dimensional space in the building, the energy efficiency rate of the building can reach 66% and the water saving rate can exceed 20% without affecting basic medical functions.

The project construction is designed and optimized in accordance with national energy-saving standards, reducing energy consumption indicators per unit area, and constructing energy-saving buildings. The project leader of Xinhua Hospital introduced that in terms of building layout, a large number of projects use natural lighting and ventilation, and the overall use of a combination of sunshades and energy-saving hollow glass can ensure that the indoor hall is bright and green, while also ensuring indoor energy-saving effects.

Policy protection for "green manufacturing"

For many years, Shenzhen has been pioneering and continuously improving its policy and regulatory system, taking the lead in exploring green buildings and construction. In 2006, Shenzhen Special Economic Zone promulgated and implemented the first building energy efficiency regulation in China, the Regulations on Building Energy Efficiency in Shenzhen Special Economic Zone, and in 2013, the first government regulation on green buildings in China, the Measures of Shenzhen Municipality for Promoting Green Buildings. In July 2022, the Green Building Regulations of the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone will be implemented, which is the first time in the country to put forward the requirements for the overall greening of new civil buildings and new industrial buildings, and the first time to integrate "carbon peak, carbon neutrality" into the full life cycle control of green buildings.

The reporter learned from the Shenzhen Municipal Bureau of Construction and Works that in recent years, the department has been promoting high star green buildings and green low-carbon pilot demonstration work to a high standard, continuously assisting Shenzhen in building a green and low-carbon city and a pioneer in sustainable development.

As of the end of 2022, 62 projects in Shenzhen have been implemented according to the national green two-star standard, and 12 projects such as the Shenzhen Museum of Nature and the Shenzhen Financial and Cultural Center have been organized and constructed according to the national green three-star level. The Student Activity Center of Georgia Tech Shenzhen College of Tianjin University has obtained the design certification of the first production capacity building in Shenzhen, and has been selected as a typical case of green production capacity building in hot summer and warm winter areas in China by China Building Energy Conservation Association. The radio and television financial center has obtained LEED gold certification, and four projects, including Shenzhen Technology University and Pingshan Zhukeng affordable housing, have been rated as Sponge city construction model projects in Shenzhen.
