On October 10, the 2023 Jiangsu Green Low-carbon Building International Expo with the theme of "Green Urban and rural areas, towards a lower carbon future" opened in Nanjing. More than 100 well-known enterprises at home and abroad showcased the latest technological achievements such as green and low-carbon buildings and green and low-carbon development practices in urban and rural areas, and experts and scholars carried out special discussions. From the development of green buildings to the construction of "carbon peak carbon neutral pilot area in urban and rural construction" and green urban and rural construction, Jiangsu's urban and rural construction has accelerated to "go green".

New technologies and achievements in green construction have been unveiled

The expo is hosted by Jiangsu Provincial Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development and Jiangsu Branch of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade. The exhibition scale of 12,000 square meters, set up the province's achievements exhibition area, promotion and release area, experience room/smart home exhibition area, green building materials exhibition area, intelligent construction/renewable energy exhibition area, and the United States rural exhibition area. Representative enterprises in the industrial chain such as construction, real estate, production and manufacturing, and smart Internet of Things will set up experience centers and special sand tables on site, and display technological achievements such as new technologies, new materials, new equipment, and new processes in urban and rural construction by means of scene reproduction and immersive experience.

A photovoltaic facade model attracted the attention of many attendees. Zhang Jiashi, deputy director of the Digital Architecture Research Center of Architectural Design and Research Institute of Southeast University, introduced that this is an adaptive photovoltaic facade model jointly developed by the center and the Institute of Architectural Computing and Application of the School of Architecture of Southeast University. "Breaking through the bottleneck that the facade photovoltaic power generation efficiency is not high, we designed a finger-type reflective photovoltaic system, and calculated the parameters according to the sun irradiation Angle." The reflection system will adjust its Angle and position according to the position of the sun to obtain maximum solar energy, which can be applied to the facades of buildings such as residential and commercial complexes in the future."

"The dual cold source dehumidification and fresh air integrated machine we displayed has a built-in high efficiency filter, which has superior dehumidification capacity and filtration effect, which both saves energy and ensures dry air, providing a healthier indoor environment." The first pilot zone Investment exploration road "zero carbon park"

This year, our province took the lead in the country to launch the construction of "carbon peak carbon neutral pilot area for urban and rural construction", and Wuxi Xidong New City and Suzhou high-speed rail New City were identified as the first batch of pilot areas. The two pilot zones will each carry out low-carbon infrastructure, low-carbon parks and low-carbon buildings in a concentrated area of about 2 square kilometers, and strive to achieve carbon peak in urban and rural construction ahead of schedule by 2028.

How to build the pilot area? At the expo, the pilot area appeared to attract investment and wisdom.

The pilot area of Wuxi Xidong New City will take the construction of zero-carbon park as the starting point, integrate the application of green and low-carbon technologies, and orderly promote the construction of a number of high-quality and low-carbon demonstration projects by gradient. For example, the implementation of green buildings with a total area of 1.22 million square meters, new three-star green buildings accounted for 66%, prefabricated building area accounted for 61%, ultra-low energy consumption, near-zero energy building area accounted for 23%, coordinated implementation of low-carbon urban areas and reserved villages as the core of green rural transformation, promote urban and rural integration, to achieve the dual carbon goal.

Wuxi Xidong New Town Business District Management Committee and Southeast University Architectural Design and Research Institute Co., LTD., China Construction Bank Wuxi Branch, Jiangsu Power Supply Branch of State Grid Wuxi Power Supply Branch, signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement on green urban design, financial support for high-quality development of dual-carbon pilot zone, and a cooperation agreement on construction of new power system in dual-carbon pilot zone. Xidong New City Pilot area will continue to integrate all resources, through green urban design, green finance, green energy support, to help achieve the goal of urban-rural integration of dual carbon construction.

Suzhou high-speed Railway New City Management Committee and Science and Technology Committee of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development to carry out strategic cooperation. In the future, for the construction of the pilot area, the special committee will introduce domestic and foreign superior scientific and technological resources, create a collaborative innovation service platform, provide multi-professional technical innovation demonstration and multi-field expert resources introduction for standard formulation and planning research, and provide support for industrial transformation and integrated development. In addition, the Suzhou HSR New City Management Committee also signed a contract with the Suzhou branch of the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China on green finance cooperation.

"The construction of the pilot zone is closely related to economic, social, scientific and technological, industrial and other factors, covering the implementation of low-carbon infrastructure, low-carbon energy, low-carbon buildings, low-carbon transportation and other fields, and is a complex systematic project." CAI Yuting, director of the Green Building Science and Technology Department of the Provincial Housing and Construction Department, said that the construction of the pilot area should promote the combination of government and effective market, fully mobilize the enthusiasm and creativity of management departments, industry organizations, enterprises and the public, work together to promote and collaborate on innovation, and explore experience for the province's urban and rural construction carbon peak work.

All buildings will eventually go green

The new technology and new technology that are constantly landing are empowering the green urban and rural development of Jiangsu. By the end of 2022, the province's green buildings accounted for more than 99% of new buildings, the cumulative urban green building area of 1.17 billion square meters, renewable energy building application area of 880 million square meters, the scale has long ranked first in the country.

"A truly green building can run on its own without external forces. Green building applies to all types of buildings, and all buildings will eventually go green." In the view of Xu Wei, the national master of engineering survey and design, the chief engineer of the China Academy of Building Science and the president of the Institute of Environment and Energy, zero carbon building is the main form of the construction field to assume its own emission reduction responsibility, large-scale development is a global consensus, should accelerate the promotion of low carbon, near zero carbon, zero carbon buildings, and carry out zero carbon city demonstration.

Focusing on coordinating to achieve the goal of energy conservation and carbon reduction in urban and rural construction, the Provincial Housing and Construction Department signed a cooperation framework agreement with the State Grid Jiangsu Electric Power Company and other units to jointly promote building energy conservation and carbon reduction, multi-energy complementarity, comprehensive energy utilization and energy use structure optimization.
