In the first half of this year, 100% of the newly constructed civil buildings in the city have implemented green building standards, with over 90% of them being above one star level, far exceeding the target set by Guangdong Province of 45% of green buildings above one star level by the end of 2025.

On July 18, the launching ceremony of the 2023 Guangzhou Construction Energy Conservation Publicity Month and the on-site observation meeting of green buildings were held in the South China University of Technology Guangzhou International Campus. The reporter learned that in the first half of this year, 100% of new civil buildings in the city have implemented green building standards, with a proportion of over 90% being above one star level, far exceeding the target set by Guangdong Province of 45% of green buildings above one star level by the end of 2025. Typical representative: Huagong International Campus, the building itself will be energy-saving

On the same day, industry experts were invited to discuss the promotion and application of Lingnan characteristic green energy-saving technologies and the promotion of building dual carbon. They also visited the E3 Library and F3 Teaching Building of Huagong International Campus on site, observing and experiencing a series of damp and hot climate adaptation technologies and traditional Lingnan architectural techniques with the main features of shading, insulation, ventilation, and waterfront.

Through passive energy-saving design, the South China University of Technology Guangzhou International Campus skillfully uses space design techniques such as atrium, overhead floor, corridor, platform and sky garden to reflect the space quality of Lingnan architecture of "connectivity, transparency, integration and convergence". The project is oriented towards creating a green, low-carbon, healthy and comfortable environment, and comprehensively adopts measures and equipment such as optimized design of building envelope structure, natural ventilation and lighting, shading design, high-performance air conditioning system, etc. to optimize the building's wind and thermal environment.

Two national three star level green ecological urban areas in the province are located in Guangzhou

How is the development of green buildings in Guangzhou? The Municipal Housing and Urban Rural Development Bureau listed a set of data: in the first half of this year, the city's newly constructed civil construction area was 11.5627 million square meters, and 100% of the green building standards were implemented. Among them, the proportion of one-star and above buildings exceeds 90% (two-star and above buildings exceed 60%), far exceeding the target of 45% of one-star and above green buildings by the end of 2025 proposed in the 14th Five Year Plan for Green Buildings in Guangdong Province.

At present, Guangzhou is vigorously promoting the construction of green and low-carbon urban areas, and promoting two areas, including Nansha Pearl Bay Lingshan Island Peak Area and Sino Singapore Ciudad del Saber, to become the only two urban areas in the province that have won the three-star evaluation of the national green ecological urban area. According to the Municipal Bureau of Housing and Urban Rural Development, Guangzhou has taken the lead in issuing a special plan for the development of green buildings in the province, releasing the "Guangzhou High Quality Green Building Development Action Implementation Plan (2022-2024)", and completing the research on supporting measures for Guangzhou's carbon peak action in the construction field. The General Code for Building Energy Conservation and Renewable Energy Utilization has been fully implemented for new buildings in the city, and projects such as the design and research building of Guangzhou Metro Design and Research Institute have passed the identification certification of "near zero energy consumption building". In 2022, the newly started Prefabricated building will cover an area of 10.91 million square meters, accounting for 42% of the newly started building area, an increase of 7 percentage points year on year.

During this year's Energy Conservation Promotion Month in the Building Industry, relevant departments and units of the Guangzhou Construction System will focus on the theme of "Energy Conservation and Carbon Reduction, Let Us Go Together", and successively carry out on-site observation and exchange activities on green buildings and building energy conservation cases, training on topics such as ultra-low energy consumption buildings and near zero energy consumption buildings, and a series of promotional activities such as "Entering the Construction Site". At the same time, a building energy conservation promotion column will be set up on the portal website of the Municipal Housing and Urban Rural Development Bureau, Realize online and offline linkage.

The reporter learned that Guangzhou will combine urban renewal actions to implement green ecological and low-carbon requirements in the renovation of new urban development areas and key areas, and create more green and low-carbon urban areas. In the future, buildings should be low-carbon, healthier, and have a longer lifespan, focusing on indicators that affect human comfort such as noise, lighting, and ventilation, in order to maximize the lifespan of the building.
