The quantity and quality of green buildings in Shanxi Province have increased, with 55.3342 million square meters of newly built green buildings in the province

Recently, news came from the Provincial Department of Housing and Urban Rural Development that green buildings in Shanxi Province have entered a new stage of large-scale expansion and high-quality development from point to surface. Since 2019, the province has newly built 55.3342 million square meters of green buildings, accounting for a proportion of newly built building area from 58.28% in 2019 to 92.83% in 2022, an increase of 34.55%. In 2022, the proportion of newly built star rated green buildings in urban new buildings reached 71.36%.

Shanxi actively carries out pilot projects and leads the country in areas such as "comprehensive green construction" and "large-scale development of star rated green buildings", forming the "Shanxi path" in the field of green buildings. In order to comprehensively promote green buildings, the Provincial Department of Housing and Urban Rural Development has issued the "Special Action Plan for Green Buildings" and the "Action Plan for Creating Green Buildings in Shanxi Province". On the basis of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Rural Rural Development's policy of "implementing green building standards for government investment public welfare projects, affordable housing, and large public buildings", it proposes to "implement green building standards for all new urban buildings", Promote the popularization and development of green buildings in our province from key projects to comprehensive implementation. In 2022, the "Regulations on the Development of Green Buildings in Shanxi Province" clearly stipulated that "new urban civil buildings should be constructed in accordance with green building standards", elevating the requirement of "comprehensive green building" to a legal system, and providing legal protection for the development of green buildings.

In order to improve the quality of green building development, our province has launched the construction of centralized demonstration zones for green buildings in cities with designated cities. Within the demonstration zones, the proportion of one star or above green buildings in the newly built building area must reach over 30%. The Ministry of Housing and Urban Rural Development requires that "new government investment in public welfare public buildings and large public buildings reach one star or more". Our province has put forward self pressure and is the first in the country to implement the "green building standard of one star or more" for public buildings, promoting the scale development of star rated green building projects. Since 2019, a total of 23.1847 million square meters of newly built star rated green buildings have been built, accounting for 56.30% of the total area of newly built green buildings, up from 20.57% in 2019 to 76.87% in 2022.

Next, the Provincial Department of Housing and Urban Rural Development will conscientiously implement the "Regulations on the Development of Green Buildings in Shanxi Province", continuously improve supporting policies, focus on major investment projects and large public buildings, promote the integrated application of green innovative technologies, and comprehensively promote the high-quality development of green buildings in accordance with national and provincial requirements for carbon peaking, green development of urban and rural construction, dual control of energy consumption, and energy revolution.
