From November 26 to 28, 2023 Carbon Peak Carbon Neutral Forum and Shenzhen International Low Carbon City Forum were held in Shenzhen. During the forum, the 2023 China International Green and Low-carbon Industry Expo, 8 theme conferences and forums, a number of theme activities and closed-door meetings were held, inviting government representatives, international organizations, industry associations, experts, scholars and entrepreneurs to participate in the "Green event".

As one of the first low-carbon pilot cities in China, a pilot city for carbon emission trading, and an innovation demonstration zone that can gather the development agenda, Shenzhen has been at the forefront of the country in the development of green and low-carbon industries. This "Green event" comprehensively demonstrated the "password" and the latest achievements of Shenzhen's green development.

The investment in green technology research and development leads the world

"National Sustainable Development Agenda Innovation Demonstration Zone Annual Report 2023" shows that Shenzhen's sustainable development index reached 89.25, ranking in the forefront of 11 demonstration zones, especially the research and development investment intensity, water consumption per unit GDP and energy consumption indicators have reached the international advanced level.

At the forum, the Annual Report on Shenzhen's Green and Low-carbon Development (2023) was also released. The report shows that in terms of top-level design, Shenzhen took the lead in issuing the "Shenzhen Carbon Peak Implementation Plan", implementing the "seven action plans", introducing "N" supporting policies, and gradually forming the "double carbon" and "1+N" policy system.

In terms of industrial development, Shenzhen, on the one hand, vigorously promotes basic research on green technology, taking the lead in legislating that the investment in basic research funds should not be less than 30% of scientific research funds, and has established more than 200 basic research projects and more than 150 projects in key core technology fields.

The competitiveness of green building development leads the country

The carbon emission of the whole process of construction in our country accounted for 50.8% of the total carbon emission, which is the key area of energy saving and emission reduction. At the green Building Sustainable Development sub-forum, Song Yan, a member of the Party group and deputy director of Shenzhen Housing and Construction Bureau, introduced that up to now, the total scale of green buildings in Shenzhen has exceeded 180 million square meters, and the density of green buildings is the first in the country and the world's leading. The proportion of high-star green buildings in key areas of the city has reached 80%, taking the lead in forming a high-star green building gathering area, and continuously ranking at the forefront of major cities in China in the green building development competitiveness index.

Next, Shenzhen will also build a double carbon pioneer city with higher requirements, and will clarify the carbon emission index of the land in the land transfer link and the planning permission of the construction project. In the construction of "Shenzhen Standards", continuously improve the Shenzhen standards system with international advanced as the benchmark, national standards as the basis, landmarks as the support, and group standards as the supplement, support the Qianhai River Loop and other key areas of Shenzhen-Hong Kong cooperation to take the lead in adopting the advanced technical standards applicable to Hong Kong, relying on Shenzhen Future Building, Shenzhen Zero Carbon World and other excellent projects, Promote the integration and development of international standards in the field of green buildings.

The development of energy storage "supercharged city" accelerated the rise

This year, Shenzhen proposed for the first time to build a digital energy pioneer city, and launched a number of new measures for the development of the energy storage industry to encourage the construction of a digital energy ecosystem, open up the entire industrial chain of electrochemical energy storage upstream and downstream, build an electrochemical energy storage standard system, promote the high-quality development of the new energy storage industry, and create a good development environment for the construction of Shenzhen supercharge.

At present, Shenzhen is speeding up the construction of supercharging facilities, and a "supercharging city" is accelerating its rise. According to the target, by 2025, Shenzhen plans to reach 83% of the city's installed capacity of new energy power generation, the industrial added value of 100 billion yuan, the annual added value of 3 to 5 billion yuan enterprises, and 30 billion yuan enterprises. By then, Shenzhen's new energy industry cluster will form a leading scale, innovation-driven, integrated and open development pattern.
