Beijing Economic Development Zone rewards a maximum of 5 million yuan for a single "green project"

Recently, the Beijing Economic and Technological Development Zone issued the "Incentive Measures for Promoting Green, Low Carbon, and High Quality Development Funds", further leveraging the guiding role of fiscal funds to drive green, healthy, and high-quality development of enterprises, and promoting the modernization of the ecological environment governance system and governance capabilities.

The reward method includes increasing the reward standard for atmospheric pollution prevention and environmental protection technology renovation projects from 20% of the actual payment amount to 30%; The reward standard for replacing self owned fuel and gas commercial vehicles with new energy commercial vehicles such as hydrogen energy has been increased from 20% of the terminal selling price of new energy vehicles to 30-50%; The reward amount for a single green building project shall not exceed 5 million yuan.

Shi Wei, Deputy Director of the Beijing Economic Development Zone Management Committee, introduced that this measure combines the annual pollution prevention and control battle with the dual carbon work, and sets up 27 support directions in three categories: pollution prevention and control, energy conservation and carbon reduction, and green buildings. Compared with previous years, it has presented four major highlights: increasing support direction, increasing support intensity, expanding support scope, and simplifying the redemption process.

Since 2014, Beijing Economic Development Zone has established a special environmental protection fund, which was later renamed as the "Green Development Fund". From 2014 to 2022, the Economic Development Zone has supported a total of 596 projects related to environmental protection, energy conservation, and green buildings, with a total support fund of approximately 333 million yuan. This has driven a total of 1.662 billion yuan in environmental investment for enterprises, playing a positive role in improving the quality of the ecological environment.

As of now, Beijing Economic Development Zone has built 32 green factories, accounting for nearly 30% of the total number of cities in Beijing; There are 5 green supply chain management enterprises, accounting for nearly 1/4 of the total number in the city.

Shi Wei stated that the incentive measures not only strengthen policy support for energy conservation and carbon reduction in enterprises, but also lay a institutional foundation for the continuous improvement of regional environmental quality, and help achieve win-win development in social, economic, and ecological construction.
