Hubei Daily News (reporter Liu Yu, correspondent Ruan Fan) January 13 from the Hubei Province construction technology and building energy efficiency office (hereinafter referred to as the "Provincial building energy saving Office") learned that in 2023, the province's national three-star green building identification project area reached 200,000 square meters, ranking fifth in the country, after Beijing, Shandong, Guangdong, Jiangsu.

Green buildings refer to high-quality buildings that save resources, protect the environment, reduce pollution, provide people with healthy, applicable and efficient use of space, and maximize the harmonious coexistence between man and nature during the whole life cycle. In accordance with the national regulations to implement grade management, green buildings from low to high divided into basic level, one star, two stars, three stars. In recent years, our province has increased the promotion of green building development, data from the provincial Building Energy Conservation Office shows that since 2021, the province has added 283 green building star identification projects, with a total construction area of about 32.36 million square meters.

Promoting the development of green buildings is also an important starting point for our province to implement the "double carbon" goal, promote the construction of ecological civilization, and promote green, low-carbon and sustainable development. However, in the past, there were problems such as weak policy constraint, insufficient execution force, and lack of regulatory means. On March 1 this year, the Regulations on the Development of Green Buildings in Hubei Province will be officially implemented, providing a strong legal guarantee for the comprehensive promotion of green buildings.

According to reports, after the implementation of the regulations, new civil buildings in cities and towns in the province will fully implement green building standards, and construction in accordance with the basic level of green building and above requirements; The newly built affordable housing will be built in accordance with the one-star requirement of green buildings. New state office buildings, large public buildings, and public welfare buildings with state-owned funds will be built in accordance with the two-star requirements of green buildings.

The relevant person in charge of the provincial building Energy Conservation Office said that this year, our province will also create a number of green building demonstration areas, driven by green technology innovation, promote the quality and expansion of green buildings, steadily improve building energy efficiency, maximize the harmonious coexistence of man and nature, and form a social atmosphere advocating green life.
