The transformation task of Boao Zero-carbon Demonstration Zone will be completed before the Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference this year

Hainan Daily reporter learned from the provincial Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development on February 28 that the reconstruction and construction task of Boao Zero carbon Demonstration Zone has been fully completed, and it is expected that regional zero carbon can be achieved before the Boao Forum for Asia 2024 Annual Conference.

The Boao Zero Carbon Demonstration Zone project is located in Dongyu Island, Boao Town, Qionghai City, covering an area of about 1.78 square kilometers, with a total construction area of about 166,000 square meters. The demonstration zone has carried out zero-carbon demonstration transformation closely with eight major technical measures, including building green transformation, renewable energy utilization, transportation green transformation, new power system construction, material recycling, water resource recycling, garden landscape ecological transformation, and operation wisdom. At present, 18 projects have been completed in accordance with the creation plan. It entered zero-carbon trial operation on January 1 this year.

A few days ago, the provincial Department of Housing and Construction organized the Boao zero-carbon Demonstration Zone international expert seminar. 19 well-known experts and scholars in the field of zero carbon at home and abroad carried out field research on the Boao zero-carbon Demonstration Zone. Experts believe that the demonstration zone follows the design concept of "regional zero carbon, resource recycling, natural environment and smart operation". Remarkable results have been achieved in engineering construction, energy saving, carbon reduction, operation management and other aspects, reaching the "international first-class, domestic leading" level, providing an excellent model for China's sustainable development and carbon neutral exploration, which can be promoted and replicated strongly, and has an important demonstration leading role in the country and the industry.
